'I stole £2,500 from students during tuition fees rally': How gangs disguised as protesters pocketed thousands of pounds

Gangs of muggers flocked to London to target affluent students protesting about tuition fees, it was revealed today. In shocking footage, one balaclava-wearing thug boasted about how he pocketed £2,500 in a single day, by stealing cash, purses, laptops and cameras from students. As the protesters scuffled with police during the December marches, opportunistic gangs used the fact many students had covered their faces to pull on balaclavas and go on robbing sprees.Areas of the demonstrations which were kettled by the police - preventing people from leaving an enclosed area - became breeding grounds for muggers. In a documentary filmed by online TV station VBS, one heavily-disguised thug boasted: 'My gang, we're in it for the money. 'I'm on the vibe where I'm going there to protest.
