I'm kicking off my spot on this blog with somebody who i feel is really emerging as one of the great producers on the Second Life Porn scene right now. He has impressed me and others greatly. He's shown a artistic eye through the whole look of his recent movies. And although it's not essential to being a great director ( but it does help a lot! ) He looks sexy and fantastic always, on or off screen ( trust me guys..ask any of us ladies! ) . His photography too shows this artistic flare, it sets a real tone, and is well worth a look. He has an eye for delivering some stunning images. If you're an interesting, and good photographer and can make that transition to video then the end product can be pretty special.
It does not matter if he's known as Vanhelsing Svoboda, Rocco Siffredi, or Mr V....
He's still the same likable guy many of us know. Across the porn scene Van is respected and liked. He has no shortage of Pornstars wanting to be in his movies either, that's for sure. Some of the sexiest girls in SL Porn have featured in his recent productions. Elheanna Queller, Leah Rea, and Harlee Fallen, all showing Van has his pick of starlet's.

When i directed my first movie with any kind of cast, he was the first guy i approached. he was a true professional, and very patient with me as i experimented with green screen for the first time. This seems to be the way in his directing too, attention to detail, and some very well chosen camera angles all point to somebody who takes pride in their work.
What has grabbed my attention lately, is the overall look Van is getting on his movies. I'm not alone in this, some big names who really know their stuff are contributing to the comments sections of his releases to compliment him.....

Van i know places a big emphasis on scouting out the perfect locations. This is a huge contributing factor to the overall look of his movies. In his recent release "Planet X" we see a Bondage BDSM scene unfold. However, we don't see a cliche room full of plush red velvet, we see a dark, gritty, run down building with huge amounts of atmosphere and great cinematic effect.
Something Emanuelle has often pointed out on this blog, and in conversation, has been getting in close. I am a big believer of this creating the perfect balance in a movie along with wider shots to show the whole scene. Van uses close in angles to take the viewer into a whole new level of intimacy with the on screen action. Sometimes a facial expression without seeing hard core physical action is very erotic. Sometimes it really is a case of less is more. There are some beautiful people making movies, It's always a bonus when the director shows us that up close. Van totally get's this. As a result his directing style resembles real world productions. Sometimes the message can get forgotten, we are attempting to make movies, in SL, we are not simply recording video of things that happen or just framing a room where two people have sex.
Anybody with Fraps can post a video on Naughty Machinima. we're lucky some individuals can put their creativity together with an eye for photography, along with their observations of just how others shoot a real movie, and give us all this kind of production. Van knows how to deliver his brand of SL porn and he's evolving all the time. His last three movies i believe has really marked his arrival on the scene with a refreshing eye catching look.
Planet XFrom "Planet X" With Elheanna Queller
His most recent movie is "Planet X". Van has spoken to me in the past about wanting to be bad in his movies! Well, i think he has gone and done it...and then some! This is very dark and sometimes cruel. BDSM, and bondage though is a wonderful area for movies, so many great props, great animations, and so much intense imagery can be captured. This movie goes above and beyond your regular BDSM/Bondage feature. Small details like the bindings used make you cringe! The atmosphere generated by Van's processing of the video, and the room where the action plays out all combine to make it a stand out movie, well worthy of it's high ratings on Naughty Machinima.

To sum up. Van is simply doing his own thing. At no point can you say he is mimicking anybodies style out there right now. He's doing his thing, he's evolving it with every movie. In doing so he's one of director's really contributing to the scene right now, in a very positive way.
