dj kali on the radio 17.07.11

thanks again to eric b. for letting me take over his auditory space and giving me the chance to play a mix of things i hadn't gotten to inflict on people in a while and some things that hadn't been broadcast outside the homestead. hope that those who were able to tune in live enjoyed what they heard. you can listen to it in convenient podcast form by clicking here. it's the one from july 16th, obviously. [because the method of archiving radio are more accurate than the people doing the programming, the show starts at approximately 4m40s into the recording and the end is a little amputated.]

here's the playlist in less exciting, but very easily followed written form [sets are separated by an asterisk]::

konstruktivists :: incognito
 eric b & ckut, neither exactly as pictured
die form :: your reality
fax cerebri :: haiphong
grim :: noble folk

*

bene gesserit :: le chanson d'ugly
human flesh :: wij
pseudo code :: keep smiling
tony wakeford/ steven stapleton :: walk the white ghost
edward ka-spel :: the fool

*

kreng :: le bataleur
bohren & der club of gore :: midnight black earth
88 :: whisper

*

voice of eye :: transmission
life garden :: blue moon child
mekanorganik :: extracting light from cucumbers
mandible chatter :: from whence and to whither
human greed :: gloaming

*

maska genetik :: stradanie
haus arafna :: god sows secrets

radio redux

some of you may have noticed that i posted a while back about how excited i was about going back to do a radio show on july 2nd and then uncharacteristically said nothing about it ever again.

you want me to play what?!?!?
well, the original date had to get moved [my fault], but i will be doing a guest slot tomorrow from midnight to 2 est on ckut-fm. if you're in montreal, you can listen the old-fashioned way [with a radio], but everyone in the entire world with internet access can also listen by tuning in right here. although i don't know what i'd do if everyone in the world tuned in, other than avoid answering the phones, which i tend to do anyway.

this will be more the experimental "that's not music" side of dj kali, rather than the more beat-oriented "i'd prefer not to get punched in the nose so i'll be a little more amenable" dj kali, who normally appears in bars and lets people bribe her with free hooch.

all this also reminds me that i have a huge pouch with a bunch of my old playlists from halifax [vintage 1994-96] which i may get around to posting here some time, just for the hell of it. if only so that this won't be the sole memorial to my time on the radio available on the internet.
